This event also serves to raise awareness among the general public through its media coverage.

How is bereavement experienced today? What are its consequences? How are people experiencing it supported in France? What are the concrete avenues for developing their support? How can we learn from the findings and actions carried out across the Atlantic?

The co-chairs of the Plateforme nationale pour la recherche sur la fin de vie, Sarah CARVALLO and Adrien EVIN, will represent the network of researchers at this conference.

These Assises du Deuil aim to gain a better understanding of the bereavement experience; disseminate objective data on the bereavement experience and France by presenting a new survey carried out by CREDOC (1) on the health, economic and social consequences of bereavement; make current research visible; highlight the needs of those affected and professionals; deconstruct stereotypes through a pragmatic and humanistic approach; value efficient actions and draw up proposals.

With the current review of proposed legislation on palliative care and aid in dying, Mental Health Day a major cause in 2025, and All Saints' Day approaching, Assises du Deuil wishes to put mourning back at the heart of the social bond, of solidarity at the heart of today's social issues.

The invited audience brings together politicians and decision-makers, professionals (care and support, education, higher education, research, business, social protection, funeral services, administrations and institutions), associations, media.
