Death and its exceptions: practices and research on exceptional end-of-life experiences
Exceptional end-of-life experiences (EEFV) concern phenomena or experiences that occur in the last moments of a person's life, at the time of death or shortly afterwards. These experiences can be lived by people at the end of life themselves, but also by their loved ones or care professionals. They include many types of events or particular perceptions, such as visions of the deceased, energy surges before death, coincidences around the date or time of death, shared death experiences, etc. These atypical experiences, though less documented than others, nonetheless represent an issue in view of the implications they may have, notably on the accompaniment of patients in fin de vie or the bereaved, but also our very understanding of the notion of consciousness.
This event therefore proposes to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue on these themes, afin order to promote a better understanding of the fin of life in all its dimensions.
This congress aims to bring together a broad audience of researchers, professionals and students, with the objective of offering a state-of-the-art review of knowledge, practices and the latest research undertaken in this field.
