End-of-life care: the view of healthcare professionals
This study day will provide an opportunity to deliver the results of qualitative and quantitative surveys of healthcare professionals on the current arrangements for end-of-life support. On the basis of these results, changes in legislation and in the organization of care will be proposed in order to improve end-of-life support in France.
The changes envisaged will take account of European models, notably Belgium and Spain, which have legalized euthanasia. Speakers will include academics and palliative care professionals involved in end-of-life care, as well as specialists in occupational health issues, in order to identify the needs of teams in this field.
Our initial hypothesis was that the conditions under which euthanasia is practised in France are not yet in place
Our initial hypothesis was that the working conditions of caregivers prevented the application of the rules in force, due to the lack of sufficient quality of work.
The interdisciplinary research method mobilized doctors, psychologists, economists, philosophers and lawyers.
The aim of this symposium is to present the results of studies carried out in the Hauts de France region, and to discuss the topic and ways of improving legislation on end-of-life support, as well as the working conditions of care teams. We will also have the opportunity to discuss the avenues of development opened up by CCNE opinion 139 of September 13, 2022 on ethical issues relating to end-of-life situations: autonomy and solidarity.
