End-of-life support in cancer care
The contributions of the human and social sciences (SHS), public health (PH) and population health intervention research (PHIR)1 in the fight against cancer are significant. In particular, they contribute to a better understanding of the impact of the disease on the lives of people affected by cancer and their loved ones, at all stages of the illness, including the end of life.
While medical progress has been significant, issues remain regarding end-of-life support in the field of cancer, which are notably the subject of several measures in the Ten-Year Cancer Control Strategy 2021-2030. Questions still remain open on various themes, and work therefore remains to be pursued, particularly in the deployment of interventions or the consideration of social inequalities.
Faced with these scientific and public health challenges, the French National Cancer Institute (INCa) is organizing an international francophone scientific symposium that aims to report on research in the disciplinary fields and approaches of SHS, Public Health and RISP by identifying ongoing research; to raise awareness in the scientific community and finally to open up research perspectives on this theme.
