The ERC spirit: beginner's basics

This webinar is aimed at people wishing to find out more about the European Research Council (ERC) calls for projects. The presentation will focus on the place of this instrument within the Horizon Europe Program, its specific features and will give some initial keys to understanding the expected research projects.

The European Research Council (ERC) has been in existence since 2007. Every year since its creation, the ERC's various calls for projects have funded numerous research projects led by principal investigators.

Open to all subjects and all fields of science and technology, ERC projects have the characteristic of funding exploratory research, at the frontiers of knowledge.

These calls are currently part of Pillar 1 "Scientific Excellence" of the European Union's Research and Innovation Framework Program (RIFP), Horizon Europe (2021-2027). Within this program, the overall budget allocated over 7 years to the ERC is around 16 billion euros.

After some background reminders, this webinar will address questions such as:

  • what is the "ERC Spirit"?
  • how does an ERC project differ from other projects?
  • who are the researchers involved?
  • what is the content of the proposal dossier?
  • where does France fit in?
  • where are useful resources?

Registration is required to take part in the event.
