Funeral gathering

The aim of this 12th meeting will be to discuss funerals, in the broadest sense of the term, authorizing the passage between the day of life and the darkness of death. We'll be looking at all the gestures made on and around the body and the grave, before, during and after the deceased's burial, whether anecdotal or indicative of a chain of events. Such a subject allows us to evoke not only the technical gestures that lead to the smooth running of a funeral, but also the gestures that make up the tomb, ritual gestures, gestures to prepare the deceased, as well as those linked to Memory, reactivating the memory.

Scientific discussions and posters will revolve around the three major phases of funerals:

• The time of preparation: preparing the body, transporting it, digging the grave, building/sizing the container, choosing essences, choosing deposits, etc.
• Characterizing the funeral: management of the body, ceremony associated or not, nature of the deposits, etc.
• Memory in all its states: grave signage, post-ceremonial gestures, re-interventions in graves, etc.
