Multidisciplinary approaches to the figure of the caregiver

Against a backdrop of demographic and health trends and reflections between national solidarity and family solidarity to cope with the consequences of these developments, the care of dependency has raised the issue of caregiving in the legal, media and scientific arena. A new field of research has been emerging over the last ten years or so, placing the caregiver at the center of a very broad perimeter, in which issues relating to the collective and personal dimensions of support meet, often with political and social implications in relation to a recognition that is still in the making.

At the interface of multiple health, social, financial and emotional issues, the figure of the caregiver gains from being the subject of a multi-, inter-, even trans-disciplinary dialogue, which alone is capable of grasping its complexity.
