At the threshold of worlds: crossroads of funeral rites

This study day is part of the continuation of the program Parler avec les mort-es - arts et sciences face aux autres voix, led by the CREM-Praxitèle and INTERPSY (Université de Lorraine) teams.

This program proposes to cross artistic fields with contributions from psychopathology on the subject of exceptional experiences in connection with death (necrophanies, EEFV, etc.). While "other" voices (the dead, grandfathers, spirits and other entities) may escape our perception and understanding, their representations, invocations and ritualizations reveal fundamental elements in the construction of our relationship with the world, on both an individual and collective scale. This program therefore aims to examine what these exceptional experiences and their representations express about our relationship to belief and the irrational, as well as to the body and gender.

The study day will cross artistic fields (visual arts, performative arts, cinema, etc.) with the contributions of psychopathology on death rites.
