Vulnerable people at the end of life
In October 2022, Emmanuel Macron launched a citizens' convention on end-of-life issues, which will deliver its conclusions during March 2023. In parallel, work is underway with parliamentarians.
Euthanasia and assisted suicide are the subject of strong reflection in the news, and this at a time when the subject of the end of life is shunned and palliative care is little known. Yet these issues, which potentially concern us all, have serious implications for vulnerable people: the intellectually impaired, the elderly, people in Ehpad, people losing their autonomy or with severe disabilities will be affected by the changes envisaged.
It is essential to reflect on the implications, legal in particular, of a change in regulations in terms of autonomy, self-disposition, discernment, dignity, care, lethal act...
