Doctoral contract at Aix Marseille University

Thesis topic: "Anticipating the end of life in patients with advanced cancers: development and evaluation of a dedicated consultation"

This thesis project is part of a research project selected and partially funded by the Interdisciplinary Research Program on the end of life, within the national Anticipation consortium. The overall project aims to set up and evaluate an anticipation consultation (Advance Care Planning, ACP) in a Cancer Center, aimed at patients with an estimated life expectancy of between one and two years.

Developed in Anglo-Saxon countries, the ACP approach is based on structured discussions designed to support people in formulating their preferences concerning their care trajectory at last. In France, beyond advance directives, this type of structured consultation remains underdeveloped.

The project aims to analyze the feasibility and acceptability of such a consultation among patients and professionals. It also seeks to assess its impact on the experience of the transition from curative to palliative care, as well as on end-of-life conditions.
