Adrien Evin is the new co-president of the National Platform for End-of-Life Research
Already a member of the Platform Board since its creation, he was appointed on June 3, replacing Sadek Beloucif, at the meeting of the Scientific Council.
- What is your background?
I'm a hospital practitioner in palliative medicine at Nantes University Hospital. My training was anchored from the outset in the field of palliative and end-of-life care research. I first took the Master 2 research Santé / Fins de vie et médecine palliative at Université Paris Est Créteil, then went on to do a thesis at Nantes Université. My subject was the proper use of medication in palliative care. Today, I'm a lecturer in palliative medicine, affiliated with the Inserm SPHERE unit in Nantes and Tours. I have always been guided by the conviction that research, when rooted in reality and nurtured by the plurality of disciplines, can truly transform practices and outlooks.
- When did you first become involved with the National Platform for End-of-Life Research?
I've been lucky enough to contribute to the platform since 2018, as a young researcher on the board. This career path has enabled me to grow alongside a committed collective, which I'm happy and proud to return to today in these new roles.
- How does the Platerforme presidency work?
The Platform is an extraordinary place that works to bring the human sciences and health into dialogue, to build bridges between knowledge, experiences and commitments. That's why it's chaired by a pairing of one representative from the health field and the other from the human and social sciences (SHS). With Sarah CARVALLO, who is also co-chair, we'll be working together on a wide-ranging reflection on the SHS-Health nexus. I'm looking forward to continuing the work begun by my medical predecessors Régis AUBRY and Sadek BELOUCIF, who worked with conviction to develop and structure this platform. I'm also looking forward to continuing to work with the entire board, whose involvement and wealth of contributions I'm well aware of, and with the operational team, the essential driving force behind our collective action.
- What are your plans as co-chairman?
My ambition is to continue this dynamic, consolidating what has been built, while opening up new perspectives, in particular by strengthening international links, to encourage scientific exchanges and cross-border cooperation. I'll also be keen to continue promoting the resources, tools and work made available by the platform to the French public - researchers, caregivers, institutions and the general public. It's a rich, demanding and open space, which deserves to be further promoted and shared.
