Santé publique magazine devotes special issue to end-of-life issues
The Plateforme nationale pour la recherche sur la fin de vie has collaborated with the Société française de santé publique to produce a thematic dossier devoted to the end of life in its journal Santé publique.
Following an editorial by Régis Aubry explaining how the end of life has become a genuine public health issue, five articles present different aspects of research in this field. Marie Gaille proposes a philosophical approach to the ethical dimension of the end of life, and sheds light on its implications for public health policies. François Cousin presents the results of a study on palliative care resources in France, with a focus on territorial disparities identified in 2017. Raphaël Benoist, Philippe Walker and colleagues1 consider the methodological approach to be adopted to arrive at a relevant palliative care offer in Mayotte. Cécile Bernard and her colleagues2 stress the need for a consensus in research around an operational definition of the end of life. Finally, Emmanuel Bagaragaza et al. 3 question the challenges of interdisciplinarity in palliative care research methodology.
