2023 scholarships
Objectives
Research activities carried out within the framework of these international mobility grants should encourage and/or strengthen international, and particularly European, collaborations by pursuing one, or more, of the following objectives:
- assembling international networks prefiguring the setting up of research projects,
- pilot studies(field surveys, consultation of sources and databases),
- comparative studies complementary to work currently being carried out by young researchers,
- preparation and organization of international scientific events.
Research themes
The four research themes targeted by this mobility grant are:
- Virage domiciliaire et approches domiciliaires de la fin de vie des personnes en situation de handicap et des personnes âgées en perte d'autonomie;
- Autonomy of will: analysis of expressions of the will to die of people with disabilities and/or elderly people with loss of autonomy and the associated reactions of family caregivers and professionals;
- End of life for children with disabilities;
- Experiences of bereavement among people with disabilities and elderly people with loss of autonomy, their family caregivers and the professionals who support them.
Particular attention will be paid, for each of the themes presented above, to crossing the views and experiences of people with disabilities andelderly people losing their autonomy, their close caregivers and the professionals supporting them.
Scope
The disciplines concerned by this call for projects are thehuman and social sciences and/or public health.
This assistance applies toall destinations (in compliance with the residence regulations in force in the chosen countries - consult the diplomatie.gouv.fr website for the latest travel advice in force) and to all types of host institution.
Priority will be given to projects aimed at nurturing European collaborations.
The Platform, on the basis of its existing international collaborations, will be able to help applicants identify collaborators and fields for carrying out their mobility.
Allocated resources
- Two grants of €5,000 will be awarded.
- These grants are intended to cover mission expenses and stay expenses, as capital expenditure is not eligible.
Calendar
- Opening date: February 1, 2023
- Closing date: May 31, 2023 (at 5pm)
- Results announcement: September 2023
- Mobility period: between January and December 2024
- Duration of stay: a minimum of 3 consecutive months and a maximum of 5 months

The letter of invitation from the host institution must specify the dates of stay.
It is also necessary to provide a CV of 2 pages maximum including the main articles published, oral communications and posters made.

How to apply?
Eligibility criteria
For project developers:
- Be enrolled as a doctoral fellow or benefit from a post-doctoral contract at the time of application and mobility.
- For post-docs: have defended their thesis within the 10 years preceding the application.
- To be listed in the Plateforme pour la recherche sur la fin de vie national directory (click here to register)
For files:
To be considered, dossiers must meet the following conditions:
- Be written in French, and in English if the host country is not French-speaking.
- Present a "favorable" or "very favorable" opinion from the thesis directors and doctoral school (for doctoral students) and/or laboratory head (for doctoral students and post-docs).
- Propose a stay in a country other than that of the project leader and/or, if applicable, his/her cotutelle country.
- Provide for a minimum research stay of 3 consecutive months, and a maximum of 5 months.
Assessment methods
Only complete application files submitted via this form, by May 31, 2023 (5pm French time) will be admitted to the selection process.
After checking the admissibility of the applications submitted, a jury will select the candidates and award the mobility grants, according to the criteria set out below:
- Scientific quality and relevance of the mobility project;
- Suitability of the mobility project for the targeted research objectives and themes;
- Relevance of the prospects envisaged following the collaborations initiated during the mobility.
Follow-up on selected projects
A research report (between 20 and 50 pages) must be submitted to the Plateforme nationale pour la recherche sur la fin de vie and the CNSA within 3 months of the end of the research stay. This report should detail the actions carried out, the prospects for the collaborations initiated, the data obtained (if any) and will include a problematized synthesis of the knowledge developed during the mobility.
The projects supported will benefit from communication and promotion support within the scientific community and the general public by the Platform and the CNSA.
The winner of this grant will be required to mention the funding obtained in all publications and communication media related to the supported project and/or use the Platform and CNSA logo.
