Integrated short-term palliative rehabilitation to improve quality of life and equitable care access in incurable cancer
Functional impairment in patients with advanced cancers affects thousands of people in Europe every year. They are, moreover, responsible for an altered quality of life for patients, their loved ones and responsible for rising healthcare costs.
The core of the INSPIRE project is to evaluate, within a hybrid efficacy-implementation type 1, multinational, controlled, randomized, mixed-methods study conducted within 5 palliative care centers in Europe, the efficacy of a complex palliative rehabilitation intervention. This intervention will take place at the heart of the patient's care pathway and will aim to improve quality of life for patients with advanced cancers, based on what is relevant to the patient himself.
The implementation elements of this intervention, its cost-effectiveness and equity aspects will also be evaluated.
Finally, the project will result in the proposal of guidelines for the integration of rehabilitation interventions in advanced cancer.
