Grief Literacy-Approaches to engaging the broader community
The aim of this webinar series is to bring the concept of bereavement litéracy to life, highlighting its different aspects and wide-ranging impact. Seven one-hour seminars are scheduled with international leaders in the field.
The conference will focus on the development and implementation of a one-year, state-funded program to promote grief literacy throughout the state of Utah, targeting those most affected by the pandemic: seniors, natives, veterans, rural communities and overlapping groups. The core strategies used to empower community members to reframe and address individual and collective losses have been innovative. Lessons learned include training for mental health providers, first responders, faith communities and engaging citizen groups. Reflections on outcomes are also part of this conference.
The seminar focuses on the following themes: compassionate communities, loss and bereavement, the literacy of grief, and their implications for clinical practice and systemic issues.
Speaker: Kathie Supiano (Salt Lake City, VS)
