Pediatric palliative care: specific research questions?

Two pediatricians on pediatric palliative care mobile teams, Ashley RIDLEY and Matthias SCHELL, will address the particularities of research in this field when it concerns the pediatric population.

Pediatric palliative care addresses a very heterogeneous population of children with relatively rare pathologies. These pathologies give rise to complex pathways often extending over several years and requiring the coordination of numerous care providers. These epidemiological and clinical particularities give rise to specific research questions and methodological approaches. Drawing on examples of ongoing French studies, we will detail how these projects have been adapted to this singular population from conception to implementation.

Speakers:
Ashley RIDLEY, pediatrician at the mobile pediatric palliative care team at Necker Enfants Malades Hospital.
Matthias SCHELL, pediatrician and coordinating physician of the Rhône-Alpes regional pediatric palliative care resource team (ESPERRA).
