Promoting the participation of loved ones in end-of-life care for seniors living in nursing homes

Monthly scientific conference of the Réseau québécois de recherche en soins palliatifs et de fin de vie (RQSPAL).

Isabelle Auclair, a nurse and doctoral student at the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Nursing, will present her research on the participation of loved ones in end-of-life care for elderly people living in residential and long-term care centers (CHSLD). Despite the fact that the participation of loved ones is a fundamental aspect of the philosophy of end-of-life care and the approach advocated in CHSLDs, there is little knowledge on this subject, when it should be given greater prominence. The results and advances of the study projects carried out offer avenues of action for caregivers and managers to promote the participation of loved ones in the last days of life.
