International Study for Palliative Care Professionals
The EAPC working group on the role of palliative care professionals in the care of patients and families who request or seek assisted dying invites professionals from around the world to participate in an anonymous survey.
Assisted dying is increasingly practiced within the context of palliative care in jurisdictions where it is permitted. Even in countries where assisted dying is not legal, palliative care professionals may still care for patients who express an interest in this practice—especially as laws evolve and patients travel abroad to access these services. Research describing the specific roles of palliative care professionals in assisted dying, or how these roles affect patients and their families, remains limited.
This study aims to better understand:
- The experiences, your roles, and the challenges you face when caring for patients who request or receive assistance in dying
- Education and training needs
- Resources that could better support clinical practice
Who can participate?
All palliative care professionals worldwide, regardless of whether assisted dying is legal in their country or not, and regardless of their level of experience.
The survey is anonymous and may take up to 20 minutes to complete.
