Sarah CARVALLO is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Franche-Comté. She is a member of the Logiques de l'Agir laboratory and an associate member of the Institut histoire des représentations et des idées dans les modernités (IHRIM - ENS Lyon UMR 5317). She is also responsible for research axis 2: L'individu dans son milieu: puissances et vulnérabilités at the Maison des sciences de l'homme et de l'environnement Claude Nicolas Ledoux, and a member of the steering committee of the Institut des Vulnérabilités. The author of numerous scientific publications and books, she conducts research into the ways in which medicine transforms and configures philosophical anthropology, in particular the human body. She is the driving force behind several research projects related to ethics, end-of-life and vulnerabilities.

Sadek BELOUCIF is an anesthesiologist-intensive care physician, university professor, hospital practitioner, head of the Anesthesia-Intensive Care Department at the Avicenne Hospital of the Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP). He teaches at Sorbonne Paris-Nord University. Keenly interested in ethical issues, he has notably chaired the Ethical Reflection Group of the French Society of Anesthesia and Intensive Care, as well as the Ethics Section of the European Society of Anesthesiology. Previously, he was a member of the Comité Consultatif National d'Ethique (CCNE), where he was notably involved in drafting the opinions "Fin de vie, arrêt de vie, euthanasie". He is also the author of numerous scientific articles and books.

Both took up their positions on January 1, 2023, succeeding Régis AUBRY and Marie GAILLE. Another notable change at the start of the year: the Plateforme nationale pour la recherche sur la fin de vie (national platform for research on the end of life) is now supported by the Université de Franche-Comté via its Maison des sciences de l'homme et de l'environnement (MSHE - UAR 3124).

The University of Franche-Comté is also responsible for research on the end of life
