Caring for Death
The SlaMOR project, funded by RnMSH,is linked to the ADAPTER and DanSERA projects.
The holding of workshops (ADAPTER and DanSERA) concretizes the hindrances and obstacles of hospitalists, which prompts us to address two avenues 1. to better identify the capacity of hospital teams to reflect on direct dialogues between dying people and caregivers; 2. to better understand the virtues of supporting hospital staff (neurology, oncology, in particular) in conceiving the value of using advance directives from patients (PSP, ALS) or ordinary patients regarding the varied conditions of dying [1].
In phase 1, this will involve a field survey of caregivers' representations (perceptions and feelings) on the issue of direct dialogue with their dying; a collection, over time, ethically cared for, of authentic caregivers' words. In phase 2, it will be a question of confronting the representations (oral collected and analyzed) with the authentic fears of situated patients as to their pathology or conditions of hospitalization or conditions of trepidation. Will be taken into account the writing (effective or not) of advance directives. Phase 3 will compare the materials collected with the effectiveness of renewed training conditions with hospitalists or doctors in initial training, training which will be simulated or tested.
[1] N.B.: the question of legislation will not be addressed in this project.
