Etu'Deuil
The Grenoble INP Foundation, at the initiative of Christine Lefrou and with financial support from the Fondation OCIRP, is launching the Etu'Deuil project within Grenoble INP - Phelma, which aims to improve support for students affected by bereavement during their studies.
Project origin
The Etu'Deuil project has its origins in Christine Lefrou's observation of various warning signs over the past few years. As a teacher-researcher at Grenoble INP UGA and a volunteer with the Jalmalv association, she noticed that more and more bereaved students were knocking on Jalmalv's door in need of a listening ear. She has witnessed how difficult it is for higher education establishments to take this type of situation into account, particularly at key moments in students' schooling, such as end-of-year juries. She then began to raise the issue with her institution's management. In June 2021, she outlined various courses of action at a meeting of directors of studies, and established initial contact with Martin Julier-Costes, PhD in sociology and associate researcher at the PACTE social science laboratory at the University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA). It was from this initial contact that the idea of initiating a multi-disciplinary research approach to the issue of bereaved students was born.
Objectives
The primary intention of this project is to support students experiencing bereavement in the course of their studies. It is therefore aimed at the students themselves, but also at administrative and teaching staff.
3 objectives are linked to this overall aim:
- Identify the students concerned and the support actions that can be carried out
- Implement actions to raise awareness
- Initiate a research approach to the issue
To meet these objectives, several actions will be carried out with staff and students, such as the organization of discussion groups and awareness-raising actions such as café-deuil or ciné-débat.
