Palliative care research year: applications now open
As part of the Ministry of Health's efforts to develop palliative care and provide support at the end of life, funding is available for post-graduate students to spend a year researching palliative care. The deadline for applications is June 15, 2024.
During their initial training, postgraduate students in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, paramedicine and the human and social sciences who wish to carry out research work in preparation for a master's degree, doctoral thesis or university diploma may apply for a year of paid research.
The "Palliative Care" research year is completed in a French research laboratory and ends no later than one year after validation of the university diploma prepared by the candidate. It is carried out during the academic year following its award, between November 1 and October 31 of the following year, (candidates must at the same time have made a request for availability to their affiliated healthcare establishment).

To be eligible, candidates must:
- Propose a research theme and topic that contribute to the realization of public health actions in favor of the development of palliative care and end-of-life support.
- Complete a research activity as part of a DU, Master's, doctorate or post-doctorate, carried out in France or
- and carry out this work in a French research laboratory recognized by the five-year university-ministry contract and participating in the teaching of one of the aforementioned degrees, or in an approved foreign laboratory participating in equivalent training.
- If appropriate, report on responses to calls for academic, national or international projects, for which funding from the "palliative care" research-year scheme would supplement insufficient financial support to conduct this research.
